Your availability status plays a key role in how often you appear in school searches. When schools look for relief teachers, they rely on your calendar to decide who to send booking requests to, so keeping it up to date can directly impact your chances of getting booked.
Audience: Relief Teacher
How schools use your availability
When a school creates a booking request, ClassCover checks your calendar for that date.
If you are marked as Available, you are more likely to appear in search results
If you are Unavailable or haven’t indicated your availability, you may not appear at all
Each day in your calendar is split into two time slots:
AM (morning) – upper section
PM (afternoon) – lower section
This allows schools to find relief teachers for full-day or partial-day bookings.
Availability status options
Your calendar can display the following statuses:
Available – Full Day
You are available for the entire school dayAvailable – AM
You are available for morning bookings onlyAvailable – PM
You are available for afternoon bookings onlyBooked Elsewhere
You are working at another school outside of ClassCover. Schools can see you are unavailableUnavailable
You are not available and will not receive booking requests for that dateHasn’t Indicated
You have not set your availability. Schools may not include you in search results
Why this matters
Keeping your calendar up to date is one of the most effective ways to receive booking requests.
If your availability is not set, schools cannot confirm whether you are free—and may choose other relief teachers instead.
Tip
Leaving dates as Hasn’t Indicated can reduce your visibility. Many schools filter by availability, so unmarked dates may exclude you from search results entirely.
Note
Your availability status only affects booking requests. It does not impact:
Job applications
Professional development invitations
Result
Your availability is clearly visible to schools, helping you appear in searches and increasing your chances of receiving booking requests.
