If you’re unable to take a booking, you can decline the request directly from an SMS or app notification. Responding promptly helps schools move on and find other relief staff.

When to decline a booking
You should decline a booking if:
You are not available on the requested date
The timing or location does not suit you
You are unable to take the shift for any reason
Actions (App)
1. Open the booking request
When a booking request arrives, tap the push notification on your phone to open it directly. Alternatively, open the ClassCover app.
2. Open the Bookings tab
Select the Bookings tab.
3. Review the booking details
Review the:
School name
Date
Time
Subject
Class
4. Decline the booking
Tap the Decline button if you wish to decline the booking.
5. Enter a reason
A prompt requesting a reason for declining the booking will display. Adding a message is optional.
6. Confirm the decline
Once you have entered a reason, tap Decline again. A “Booking declined successfully” message will briefly display.
Result
The school is notified that you declined the booking request
Tip
For faster responses, set your phone notification Banner Style to Persistent so booking alerts remain visible until you respond.
Actions (SMS)
1. Review the booking request
When a booking request arrives by SMS, review the details in the message.
2. Reply with the decline code
Reply to the SMS using the:
Decline (N) code
Result
The school is notified that you declined the booking request
Tip
If you are unavailable on certain dates, update your Calendar so schools do not continue sending booking requests for days you cannot work.
Note
Booking requests may be sent to multiple teachers at the same time
Responding quickly helps schools arrange alternative cover sooner
You can decline requests through either the ClassCover app or SMS notifications
