If a school cancels your confirmed booking on the same date, there may be payment implications. Understanding how this works helps you know what to expect and what actions to take.
Audience: Relief Teacher
What is a same-date cancellation?
A same-date cancellation occurs when a confirmed booking is cancelled on the same date as the scheduled start time.
When you may be eligible for payment
Under Queensland Department of Education policy, you may be eligible for a 2-hour minimum payment if:
The booking was already confirmed, and
The school cancels on the same date of the booking start date
This recognises that you may not have had enough time to secure alternative work from the Queensland Department of Education schools.
What you will see
When a booking is cancelled:
You receive a notification in the app
The booking is removed from your Calendar
You remain available to accept other bookings that day
If you accept another booking from a Queensland Department of Education school
If you accept a new booking on the same date:
Any 2-hour payment is automatically removed
You will be paid for the new confirmed booking instead
No action is required from you.
Tip
Keep your availability updated so you can accept another booking if one becomes available after a cancellation.
Note
The 2-hour payment applies only to cancellations on the same date of the booking start time
Cancellations made on dates before you commence (i.e. the day before or earlier) do not attract a minimum payment.
Payment eligibility is based on Queensland Department of Education policy
Result
You understand how same-date cancellations work and when a 2-hour payment may apply, helping you respond confidently when plans change.
